Allergists & Immunologists

Allergists (also known as immunologists) are specialists who work to help prevent, diagnose and treat diseases of the immune system. These can include allergic reactions to things like tree and grass pollens, certain foods, medications, pet dander, insect stings, etc.

Immune system diseases can run the gamut from simple respiratory allergies to asthma, eczema, immunodeficiency diseases, autoimmune disorders, and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).

An allergist/immunologist can help alleviate symptoms of allergic reactions, resulting in improvements in the quality of life for allergy patients. Allergy testing can help determine the cause of the reaction, and several methods of treatment, including allergy shots, can help reduce or even eliminate the reaction.
